I’ve been a self-employed person for over 25 years. I believe that it is a good thing to be healthy, and my self-employed business is no exception. I am fully insured and I have a good health plan. I have a good group plan too, and I pay the same as everyone else. I know the cost of my plan and I consider it fair.
The key here is “fair.” If you’re self-employed and you have a health plan you can compare it to your costs. If they’re lower or if you’re paying a higher deductible, you’re probably paying too much. If you’re paying too little, you’re probably not.
I could talk about the cost of my plan and its effects for hours, but I wont. Suffice it to say that there are two ways to look at cost. One that looks at total health care bills including insurance, medical visits, prescription drugs, etc. The other way is to look at the actual cost of the plan including the deductible, co-insurance, and other medical expenses not included in those bills.
The two ways I look at cost are the same, but they both look at total health care bills for the first time.
The second approach is particularly important when you’re going to be spending $100 at a drug store and you want to know if you’re going to spend $100 on prescription drugs. You want to make sure that you’re covered for the drug costs you just spent in the first place. You probably would not go to a drug store to compare cost with a few friends who are uninsured but have insurance.
While you can see how much you pay for health insurance, you can’t get a doctor without insurance and you can’t get a doctor without a prescription. It doesn’t matter how much you pay for health insurance, you’ll probably get a doctor without insurance.
You can make this easy or complicated, but you cant get insurance if the doctor you want to get insured is not insured. If you have insurance, you might have friends who have insurance, but youre not going to go to the doctor and go to the hospital with that insurance. When I had my car inspected I had a car payment, but no insurance.
I know it seems to be a little obvious, but being without insurance can be a real problem. Many people don’t realize that when you go to the doctor, they pay for the procedure and not the health insurance. I recently went to the doctor with my car (again, with no insurance), and she diagnosed me with a carpal tunnel. The car insurance was for the procedure and the hospital charges, but the insurance company didn’t cover it all.
You don’t pay for health insurance here. You pay for health care. You’re not allowed to take away insurance. As you can see from the link above, it is not free. It’s just that if I’m not on the insurance the doctor will pay for the procedure.
Just because insurance is not free, that doesn’t make it less important. I had the surgery, the doctor did the surgery, and the hospital does the surgery. The insurance company has the right to make sure they pay for the hospital. However, the insurance company may not pay for the surgery if the patient is on a waiting list.
